Rendang Padang

Rendang Padang is a typical food of the West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. According to CNN, rendang is categorized as the most delicious food in the world. The special spices of these foods have different characteristics and can be accepted by various groups. This recipe can be a reference to welcome the Eid al-Adha. Here is the recipe: 

Ingredients: 

700 grams of meat, cut with 2 cm thick fiber. 

3 cm galangal, bruised 

2 lemongrass stems, take the white part, bruised

3 turmeric leaves, made a knot 

2,500 ml thin coconut milk 

500 ml thick coconut milk (from 3 coconuts) 



Softened seasoning: 

20 curly red chilies 

5 large red chilies 

16 red onions 

4 cloves garlic 

5 cm ginger 

5 candlenuts, roasted 

1 teaspoon of pepper 

1 tablespoon of coriander 

4 teaspoons of salt 

2 teaspoons of granulated sugar 



How to make : 

1. Boil thin coconut milk, galangal, lemongrass, turmeric leaves, and spices that have been mashed while stirring until it boils. 

2. Add meat, cook while stirring until tender and thick gravy. 

3. Pour thick coconut milk, cook on low heat, stirring constantly until the broth becomes blackish and greasy. (takes 1 hour).
